For the second day, the National Weather Service has issued a warning about the extreme temperatures, that on Friday could be reaching around 106 degrees in the north valley.
Specifically mentioning Chico and Oroville, the warning discusses the potential for heat-related illnesses and impacts if precautions aren’t taken.
In addition, the risk of fire is high, with the possibility of dry thunderstorms and lightning in the foothills. The risk of volatile weather continues into next week, the weather service warns.
Saturday and Sunday could dip to the high- to mid-90s, but triple digits should return by early next week.
